Mt. Fuji (2) -Temperature-

The opening of the Mt. Fuji is July to August, summer season in Japan, but Mt. Fuji is very cold as if it’s like almost winter.

The average temperature of the summit in 2006 was 5.2℃(41.36゜F) in July, 6.9℃(44.42゜F) in August. Also you should know that the lowest temperature in recorded history was –4.3℃(24.25゜F). The average wind velocity of the summit is 7.3m in August. Regularly, it is said that by 1m wind speed, the feeling temperature fells 1℃(33.79゜F). Hence, take the average temperature record in August 2006 for example, the feeling temperature at the summit of Mt. Fuji becomes –0.4℃(24.25゜F).

If you want to see the sunrize(A.M.4:00~5:00) from the top, it means that the temperature becomes colder. Therefore, you need to bring a fleece jacket or down jacket which protect you from cold winds.

Crayon Shin-chan, Live or Dead

Crayon Shin-chan is one of the national popular anime which was originally cartoon serial started in 1990. Since broadcasting started in 1992, Shin-chan has become very popular with his weird jokes. (But his jokes was in PTA’s bad books.) In proof of its popularity, Crayon Chin-chan is still broadcasted and entertain TV viewers. However, we don’t know we can see Shin-chan any more.

Amazingly, the author of Crayon Shin-chan, Yoshito Usui(51) passed away. His body was found at tha bottom of the cliffs of Mt. Arafune (Gunma prefecture) on 19th September. The news poses quite a shock to all Japanese.
Detail of the cause of Usui’s death has not been revealed. Usui told his family that he would climb Mt. Arafune and leaved his house on the morning of 11th September. However, he didn’t come back, so his worried family asked the police to search for Usui. What we now know is his remain was found at the bottom of the cliffs of Mt. Arafune, Along trail up the mountain, there is a precipitous cliff and it seems that Usui felled down the cliff.

The concerned parties of its anime stressed that they don’t want to end the contents because Crayon Shin-chan is big earner. Now Crayon Chin-chan is extensively used for character goods, stationeries, foods and TV commercial.
Shin-chan’s anime on air bring one-fifth of Usui’s original piece and the other four-fifth plot is created by anime production company. Hence it is possible to continue Shin-chan.
But anyway, at this moment, TV-asahi, one of the main Japanese TV station broadcasting Crayon Shin-chan, announces that continuance or not is decided by conference with concerned parties of Shin-chan
In Japan, a few very popular national anime, such as Sazae-san and Doraemon, has been broadcasted even after the author has been dead. Concerning the popularity of Shin-chan all over the world, now Shin-chan plays a role as a private diplomat. I wish Crayon Shin-chan would last.

Preparation: Climbing Mt. Fuji (1)

Mt. Fuji- Still I cannot see the top of the mountain!!

Not only for Japanese but also tourists from abroad, climbing Mt. Fuji is very attractive. Mt. Fuji is famous as symbol of Japan and the highest mountain (3776m/12,388 ft) in Japan. Climbing Mt. Fuji has been more popular these days, and it seems pleasant in term of regional vitalization and tourism. However, there is negative side. Some people think that climbing Mt. Fuji is easy and do not collect information. As a result, light-armed climbers with lack of preparation climb Mt. Fuji and are affected by altitude disease or upset their health.

Why did I decide to write an article about Preparation for climbing Mt. Fuji? I am neither experienced climber nor amateur climber. Beside, I haven’t climbed Mt. Fuji every year. I just only once climbed Mt. Fuji. Of course, there is no qualification for me to tell you my information about Mt. Fuji. However, when I climbed Mt. Fuji, I saw some climbers from abroad were all too light-armed. Half sleeve, short pants, vinyl raincoat (anyway not for climbing,) denim skirt with spats, shoulder bag, flat pumps, small back pack etc…

This was what I found in Mt.Fuji. And I imagined that those tourists from abroad might not have much information about climbing Mt. Fuji with their understandable language.

As one Japanese, hoping many people from abroad to enjoy their wonderful trip in Japan, I would like to be your little advisor for your safe visit in Japan.

Soooo modern! Ink painting

Pine Trees by Tohaku Hasegawa

It's really cool folding screen, isn't it!?
I would never forget the moment when I first saw this great masterpiece of Tohaku Hasegawa , Shorin-zu byoubu, or Pine Tree, drawn in late 16th or early 17th century. That was the time of my Japanese art history class.
Look this daring needle leaves of pine tree and boldness of the composition! There would be no one who could draw the object like this at that era. Some would say, "This is because vanishing point had not established yet."That can be one answer. But I believe that this shows the excellence of Japanese aesthetics, especially in term of creating empty space.
This kind of emptiness had not been in many case of western painting until 20th century. Some artists who was influenced by Zen Buddhism idea came to create empty space in their painting.If seeing about this point, what a modern man Tohaku was!!
Oh, plz don't misunderstand that I look down on western painting. Just I'm so fan of this painting.
Actually, I got a chance to face this great masterpiece this summer. Once I stood in front of this painting, the air surrounding me was suddenly change. I felt as if humid air was coming from this painting and I was standing in the pine forests in the morning mist.
If you visit Japan, I recommend you to see this painiting. But I don't know when this painting will be exhibited next time. We need to wait a little bit...

Name: Ema I'm university student in Tokyo and major in Japanese Art history.I used to keep writing this weblog and introduce about Japan. And now, I restart! (Of course to report you from Japanese pop culture to traditional one... maybe)

hey! long time no see guys!

you know, I've been to Spain for 8 days and spend woundful time there. Spain is amazing country. I felt as if I were in the musium. Especially, I loved Sagrada Familia and Alhambra palace. Spain itself was infuluensed by Islam and of course Islam culture so alchitecture, and designed threr were filled with originality. I wanted to show pictures I took but my photo-post equipment was something wrong and I couldn't post them. I'll try again, but I don't know when it will be.

Graduation

On March 1, I graduated my high school. I enjoyed my all high school life with good friends, teachers and environment. I never disliked my friends; in come cases, I looked one with dislike, but soon, I found one’s much better point than the bad point.

My high school is girl’s school and seemed as if I were in green house, so leave high school was really sad. But, for my good friends are to attend same college, move to near my hometown and live in my hometown, I’m not so sad at that point.

Anyway, now is the time to change my mind to the next step at university.

March seems to be really good month. There were no better months than this March.
From March 13 to 20, I plan to visit Spain for sight seeing with my friends, and Kyoto from 27 ro29. I’ll be talk about it later!

Japanese three beautiful women, Humie Suguri, Miki Ando and Shizuka Alakawa,did really well!! Especially, Shizuka!! She won the first prize!! I can't believe that Japanese woman won the gold medal at Olynpic.

There’s a guy wants to talk to you.
Man1: What’s he look like?

Man1: Tell ’im I’m coming up.
Tanto: He’s coming up.

I can’t recognize what is the meaning of “I’m coming up”.

Is this the meaning just approaching the people until they are standing close to him?
Is this the meaning that he goes up?

In Japanese script, it says that he goes up, but do you remember? Tanto says “It’s Tanto…downstairs.” and there, at downstairs, is a guest for him whereas, Man1 says “I’m coming up”.

In my guess, the meaning of “I’m (he’s) coming up” is “I don’t wanna see you”, for there is a contradiction, up and down.

Or is there any other meaning in it? I mean that two guys who is buying and selling drugs, not usual men but a kind of mafia held this conversation. So I wonder whether it is slang or not.

What's cold call?

I never thought you guys don't understand what I meant, telephone apointment.

In fact there are a lot of Japanese-English (The words that seem to come from English, but actually, it isn't.) , like Fight!. In Japan,"fight" is used when we cheer people doing a game.

Anyway, I explain telephone appointment (Japanese English),cold call ←I used dictionary.
There are so many kind of cold call. What I did is that I telephoned people randamly for canvass to change their telephone company, NTT to KDDI.
Oh, NTT and KDDI are Japanese Telephone companies.
Like , salesman, you know.

So I had to not only call people but also contract with them.
But, contract is really difficult. Most people never listen my words; they pretended they were busy now. I know their feeling, because whenever I take cold call, Ido the same thing.
This experience is a little bit shockking news, but I never mind, haha:)

Hey what's new!? then what's new for me?? I was fired two weeks ago. In fact, that was my first time to do part time job, and I was enjoying it.
The job is a kind　of cold call (telephone appointment テレアポ）. There were no norm, but if I couldn't get any appointment in office hours, staff said "Zero means there was no mean that you were in here"
My score "zero" continued 4 time and, at last, the staff said "please find the job that suite to you"
hummm that was a bad start as my job career

Asako

Asako, one of my school friends, gave a pumpkin & cheese cake and biscotti to me. Once, I introduced her cake that was, of course, made by her. Did you remember? Anyway, her cake is always delicious!
Actually I can’t cook; precisely, just I don’t. (But I love eating! haha)If I see the cooking book or recipe, I will make it. However, I think it’s really bad for me not to cook at all because I’m not a child. I become a University student in this April. I should try to make something, not so difficult. Practice some recipes; I’ll prepare a lunch box at university. It’s my dream, little dream.

What I thought about English is that how difficult it is. If your mother languages are English, you will soon find my English is not written in comfortable way. You know, I don’t care about grammar; Microsoft “Word” has my spelling corrected. Surely, there are no problems if I use English only on my web log because there are a few people who come to see me (and everybody are kind). BUT, I’m about to be a University student, and use English as an official language at there. Wrong English is no more accepted on the reports. Especially, I hate preposition and right word usages Dammmn! If I could learn English more seriously!

12/31 I saw Kouhaku Uta Gassen (紅白歌合戦), annual NHK sponsored year-end men versus women singing contest.
1/1 I went to my paternal grandmother’s house.
1/2 I went to my maternal grandmother’s house. At there, I met my cousin, aunt and uncle. I hadn’t met them since I met them last new years, so I was really looking forward to see tem.

This holiday was nothing spatial, I think, but I could be relax and spend good holiday.

How’ve you been every one!! Good to see you again.
I finally finished my entrance exam at the beginning of December; now I have enough rest; I decided to resume my web log again.
One thing that I want to tell you is that I decided to go to Japanese University.
I often mentioned about my dream, study abroad, and stressed how wonderful it is. However, because of my personal trouble, I had to change my course. I can’t go abroad so long time. In the future, I may go to study abroad for a long duration, but there is no secure. Anyway, though I had to give up one of my dream, I select a University that have almost same environment as if I were in the U.S (precisely, a faculty) The faculty was originally accepting descendents of official on the embassy staffs and stationing troops in Japan since ending world war 2. So, all classes are conducted in English and there are a few 100% pure Japanese. 30% of the students are international students and other students living in Japan are returnees, mother or father is non- Japanese or both of them are non-Japanese or those who have ever studied abroad.
I believe that this environment is what I really want. I’ll spend wonderful 4 years at there!!

I’ll show you one part of my favorite song form CHICAGO.
This song is much better in Movies version than original Broadway version. But any way, this lyric is really funny. I think Rob MARSHALL, director and choreographer of the movie version, is a great person because this song was a little part of the Broadway version. But in the movie, this song is really cool.
In this scene, the six merry murderesses of the Cook County Jail song “Why I am here”. The reasons why they are in the Jail are ridiculous.

This year, CHICAGO, Broadway version, came again. This is the third time to play the musical in Japan. The last time was when movie version won the Academy award. At that time, I wanted to see it because the movie was really cool, but I couldn’t find the day I could go. So when I heard that “CHICAGO comes to Japan again” in March, I checked the schedule and decided to go.
At the day, I decided to be all black clothes to enjoy the musical more. I was really excited because I could see the funny story, songs and sexy costume and dance.
The show started at last with the sound of “ALL THAT JAZZ”. Jazz playing member were in the center of the stage (to make more mood of Jazz and 1920’s). Dancers wearing black clinging see-through fabric came out one after another. Do you imagine? Women’s costume is almost under wear; they were really sexy.
I’ll write again.

On August 17, I went to see a BLAST! , 100% entertainment show. The show was a combination of Music (brass instrument and percussion) and Dance performance. The show got Tonny award and Emmy award

When I saw it first time was two years ago in music class in high school. Teacher showed us BLAST’s DVD. I was really amazing! Though I saw through Braun tub, I was excited. Because when I was a junior high school student I belonged to the Brass Band Club and play the Horn, I understood how difficult things they make it. I think it’s a kind of Marching Band, but I don’t want to bring out them; it gets beyond the Marching Band.

The show was really good. Music was of course appeal strongly with plot, dances were beautiful and dynamic and audiences gathered greatly stream. Moreover, members came to audience seats in the show. During recess, percussion’s members went to the lobby and did performances, so people rushed to the lobby when the recess started. Encore was much more great! All members pass through the pathway and reached the lobby (of course all audiences followed along) and Encore was done at the lobby. At there, I could shake a hand with two members.
I was so excited that I made up mind to be a repeater. I will go to see BLAST! next year, again!!

Topic: It has been said, “Not everything that is learned is contained in books.” Compare and contrast knowledge gained from experience with knowledge gained from books. In your opinion, which source is more important? Why?

In my opinion, Books can give more knowledge than experience can do and I think Books is more important than experience.
First, let’s think about experience. Experience is important part of humans’ lives because we can be gained knowledge through talking people and watching their actions or watching nature. For example, when I was child, I often saw the sunset and thought “The sun set different places through the year.” However, knowledge gained from experience is limited. We can learn it only through our experience, but we can’t gain it from what I can’t experience.
On the other hands, books teach me everything that I want to know. From them, we can learn not only the knowledge in usual life in novels but also historical and academic knowledge. Can we get knowledge about Queen Elizabeth Ⅰthrough the experience? Can we go to the universe and learn something? I think both of them are impossible. However, books have a magical power to meet Queen Elizabeth Ⅰor lead us and make us possible to see so many stars in the universe.
From that point, I think that books make us possible to know whatever we want to know, and are able to gain knowledge.

Today’s topic: Nowadays, food has become easier to prepare. Has this change improved the way people live?

I don’t think that food has become easier to prepare has change improved the way people live. In fact, preparing food become much easier and our society became more and more useful one than before, but there are some bad points, too.
By being easier to prepare food, the time that we use for cooking dishes gets shorter and this make women have more time that they can use freely. Getting the time shorter, women can work longer and get good position and surely. So they came to have opportunities to play important roles in the company and society. Some of the women can be still working after they have children because of decreasing of the time for preparing food. I don’t think this kind of women is bad. However, if they have children, the circumstances would be change.
Does these women really make the food that includes high nutrition as well as when they don’t have job? I don’t think so. Children will have foods that are already made by machines or other people who work at the supermarkets or department stores. Or, they may ask their mother to make supper for their children. If these foods include abundant nutrition and are good valance, that may not become big programs. However, I think mother should make supper themselves for children. It’s very sad that children don’t know mother’s tastes.
Another problem is first food restaurant. Shops like MacDonnell serve food very quickly and there are very convenient if we don’t have much time to eat. But these foods affect bad for our health. If those children eat hamburger every week at supper, what will happen?? These foods can fulfill your hungry feeling but can’t care their health at all. In the movie, “Super Size Me” improve what happen in the body if people eat hamburger every morning, lunch, evening.
Reducing the time preparing food increase people’s time, and it’s very good for every one who lives in busy society. But I don’t think it’s really important for us to exchange the time we can have and our precious health.

Topic: Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Parents are the best teachers.

I don’t agree that parents are the best teachers. I don’t mean that parents don’t have roles as teachers, but I think there are lots of people that can be teachers.
I think that parents have taught many things that can be useful for life. In my life with them, I could learn a fundamental layer thing that I have to know to live as one family. When I was kid, they said to me “Wash your hands before and after you eat something,” “Say hello to family member and of course to neighborhood, ” “Eat supper with family,” and so on. Of course they gave us another advice when I was getting order, but mainly they teach what is good and bad in our lives. So their major is teaching fundamental society as Family member.
Friends must be good teachers, too. They teach more important things than parents ever taught. The friend and I can influence each other for their own thinking way. For example, few years ago, I hated one friend whom I was a good friend with in some point and I often said about her “I really hate her. But we both used to be a good friend, so I tried to like her, but I couldn’t.” Another friend of mine heard it and said, “ Don’t worry, there are so many kind of people and it is not possible for us to be a good friends with all of them. I know how you and the friends were good friends, but if time goes by, we ourselves change, too. So, take it easy. But, you mustn’t tell that you hate her any more, if you don’t want to let the circumstances more badly.” I really agree this idea. After that, relationship of the friend and me’s whom I used to hate became better. So, from friends, I can learn how to meet the people in society.
In our society, there are many teachers but each of them has their specialized. So parents must be good teachers, but their couldn’t be the best teachers of all things.

Topic: People attend college or university for many different reasons. Why do you think people attend college or university?

Why do we attend college or university?? Do we go to there to get the status to graduate university? I think it must be wrong. For me, I want to attend university to acquire broad knowledge, discuss problems and exchange ideas from other students.
First point is that we can learn not only concerned my major but also minor. I don’t think it’s possible to learn many kinds of things by myself effectively. Moreover, I can learn about them from professors who have professional knowledge and latest happenings. At second, we can make a lot of new friends who have same interests. At high school, each people have different interest. Some students are interested in literature but others want to be a doctor. However, at university, in one major, we all have same or similar interests, so I can get good influence from friends each other. Also, I can get idea that friends have but I never come upon with my mind.
Today, many people attend university for different reason, and some students are bored the lives. But almost all students enjoy their university students’ life because there are many things that we can know newly. So we attend university.

I think you have notice that it parodies the proverb “No news is good news”.

This summer vacation, I make it a rule to watch a movie an hour for listening practice. Today, I didn’t have a time to go to rent it that suite for listening practice. So I know that it’s not good for practicing for beginner, but I watched 007, Tomorrow Never Die.

In the scene, James riding a military plane that he deplete with a sleeping hostile backseat driver. However, the backseat driver wake up and notice that the driver is not his company but James. So the backseat driver tries to kill and tied up James neck. They fight and at last James success to push the button 2, loosing the back seat system.
And says…

James: “Backseat driver”

In the word “Backseat driver” there are meaning “a passenger in the back of a car who gives unwanted advise”, according to the Longman dictionary.
It’s interesting, isn’t it?? I had no idea that the word has such a meaning. When I watched the scene, I could hear “Backseat driver” or “Bug in driver”. I’m not sure that this is a play on words or just I heard wrong. But in James Bond film, we can see many of them, so perhaps I’m right. “Bug” has a meaning like back seat. If you want say
“Don’t bother me” you would say “Don’t bug me” (邪魔しないで jyama sinaide)
Anyway, in the scene, movie script says

James: “お邪魔虫め ojyama mushi me”

“Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith” is opening to the public at any minute in Japan and, these days, I hear some people talk about it. Because it’s the last of a series, funs has placed more expectations on it.
Anyway, what I’d like to talk about is not about the movie but the video game! Look at the picture above!! It’s so funny isn’t it?? I’ve never seen such an interesting video game. The most attracted point is all character is LEGOs’ doll. The story is also extensive in Lego world. I’d like to try it. It seems a little bit easier, doesn’t it?? In fact, only can the people who have PS2 or GBA do the game, so I can’t. If you buy it, please tell me the impression.

I can’t believe it!! I found the article about Japanese Made café from NYT. For years, Japanese readers of manga, and watchers of anime, or adult cartoons, have told that their No. 1 fantasy figure was the French maid. In this article the new style café was take as if it is a cool, new trend of Japan. However Japanese girl and women (I don’t know how boys thought) don’t have good images when they listen the word, “Made”. So please don’t get the wrong idea about this.

As the article says, Jenkins and his family could finally meet his mother, 91 years old, in the U.S. For Japanese it reflected impressed reunion, but for American, it wasn’t seemed so. “We don’t have to allow such an American soldier who deserted his Army and fled to North Korea” This is the way they think. This news was played up to some both local and big newspapers and they wrote the article with hard-eyed. In evidencethis article’s title has a word, Deserter, for him. In Japan, Media never use such word for him on headline.
I think these differences arouse because we have no idea for the army and they have. I know not counted sin against his escape exerts a bad influence on armies in Iraq, but I can’t really understand why they are so strict. I thought it’s a kind of militarism.

When I talked with one American woman, she said, “I was really surprised that Japanese men wore jackets and ties on such a humid hot summer. Now I get used to see the situation, but when I saw it first, I can’t believe it!!” For me, growing up in Japan, the sites aren’t seemed any strangeness.
“Cool-Biz” named by the Environment Ministry is the new man fashion with no jacket or no ties (or none of them). As she said, Japanese office men really wear them in hot summer. According this article, Japanese government is asking the new style to save our earth.
Comparing with putting on them or not, the difference of skin temperatures are distinguished. So if men adopt Cool-Biz more, the time of using an air-conditioner would be reduced and it also helps to reduce the amount of CO2.
This new announcement seems a little bit oddly and exactly it does for non-Japanese. But it will make Japanese middle aged men who don’t care about their appearance more pay attention to what they wear, too.　Environmentally and economically (except ties industry), their effects will works good.

One of the major Cineplex complexes, TOHO Cinemas at Roppongi Hills, started new useful service in October 2003. The service, the Mama’s Club Theater, is for mothers with their babies and little children. Every Thursday, using morning time when it isn’t so clouded, the theater makes the second screen friendly for them. I’ll show you some of the example; the light of the theatre isn’t darker so that mothers can go out if something happens for children, the air conditioner is checked more frequently than usual and the sounds is set lower not to feel uncomfortable for children. To do that, Mother could come to be enjoying the latest movies. Moreover, these services make mothers come because there are people having same circumstances. So if children are crying dulling being screened, no one care about it.
I think these good system must be introduced. Because of DVD’ diffusion, most theaters are now trouble with decline of the viewer. Japan is aged society so it might not spread. However, using the Mama’s Club and watching a movie might be a new style to communicate with other mothers on such a rainy day.

United Nations made learning game, WEP Food Force. It’s a kind of simulation game. You become one of the WFP teammates and save refugees in a fictional island’s where conflict outbreak. We can know the system of reconstruction assistance by Visiting and searching the tens of thousands of refugees in the island, packing the food with right nutrition balance and bringing by air planes and tracks in this game. Moreover, real images are used in it, so that we learn more about the system .
I recommend for this game not only for the people who are interested in UN or international agenda but for every people who live in no conflict areas. I did it today and knew how did the people of UN and what are the important things in assisting them. It can be also used at school, I think. The Volleyball tournament at school

(I wrote this May 13)
Yesterday and today (May 12, 13), the ball sport tournament was hold. We can choose one sports among dodgeball, basketball and Volleyball and are divided into three groups. Then I chose Volleyball. I had thought my class’s Volleyball team was powerhouse and it was true. Good players, like having a good serve or good attacker, and good atmosphere made our team more and more strong, I think. Because the mood of the team had been really nice when from the beginning of the practice in PE, we believed that we must have reached the semi-finals at least. Moreover adversary (the team or people that fight with us) was 1st grade students until the semi-final game, so we were very lucky.
Yesterday, we won the two games and gained our advance to the semi-championship’s tickets!! It’s pleased us very much. Today, our team won a place and finally did the final game. We lost the game (1-2) but we did try for all one is worth, I think. Non-experienced players became better and better under the good team’s experienced players. We all enjoyed practicing and playing Volleyball. So 3C is the first prize in my mind!!

P.S I’d like to say “Thank you” for my class mates (who cheered us and also play as a Volleyball team) and especially KISA. Without her win in the paper-rock-scissors that she did instead of me, I couldn't have had those great experiences.

Hachiouji

What are there in my own town is very important. The more there are shops, the more my life would be convenient life.
I live in Hachiouji and many shops are on my way home from the Hachiouji station. SOGO department, TOKYU store (a kind of shopping mall), three drugstores, many convenient stores and some other kind of shops. There are too many convenient store and Izakaya.
These days, one big store’s open is controversial. Last year, OIOI Hachiouji went bankrupt and the building advertises for tenant. We were interested in what is the next.
I’d thought that there would be some fashion building because Hachiouji has 21 universities and collage. One of my friends living in Hachiouji said, “I hear that Tokyu Hands may come ”. It must be nicer than fashion building, I think.
However, neither the company nor fashion building came there. Instead of these nice facilities, catapult and computer game amusement center win the right to enter the building. That conclusion made all citizens surprise because we never thought of that.
I disagree that, too. I don’t mean that this kind of center is always bad. Just what I want say is that its location doesn’t site for these. First, the building is next to the station. It comes in the landmark of Hachiouji. Second, that kind of establishment could be injurious to public morals. Third, Hachioiji is academic city. Once you see the new catapult and computer game amusement center, you would feel that this city doesn’t have a pleasant ambience.

In fact, because of the petition drive that said “No!!” from citizens and board of education, the center’s opening has already delayed. I don’t know that which side win, but I hope not to open the store.

I had a good break time at Chichibu, Saitama, next to Tokyo prefecture, today. What is my purpose to go there was to see moss pink (but there are white or blue moss too!). As you would already found, it’s not agrarian scenery. It’s artificial one in the park. But, look at the pictures above and under this article!! It’s very beautiful, isn’t it?? This is my first time to see the flower and I had been eager to see this.
Surprisingly the flowers in the park are about 330,000 stubbles in 14,5000㎡. This beautiful flowers’ carpet is famous as one of the most beautiful moss pink park in Japan (But I didn’t know until this year) so that there are many sightseeing people. Every one took pictures each other and said “Cute!” “I loved it!” “I’m very happy to come!” or something like that. Yes, I think so too!! I couldn’t see without taking many pictures.

Do you enjoy this long golden-week vacation?? I haven’t gone anywhere, but I found very cute bears in Roppongi Hills on the web. The name of the interesting project is called United Buddy Bears Exhibition . Now, in there, there are 127 bears that are 2 meters. It isn’t only big and artistic bears. The bears’ exhibition has hold under a motto,
WE HAVE TO GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER BETTER …
… it makes us understand one another better, trust each other more and live together more peacefully.
So 127 bears are standing hand in hand to represent 127 United Nations member states.
Each 127 bears are painted by 127 each countries artists. From the bears we can see information about the each countries.

These buddy bears are on its tour around the word. After this tour, these bears are auctioned and the money are contributed for UNICEF
I think it’s good for us to see this international exhibition for free. Seeing that we could touch each 127 countries art and countries their selves.

I’d like to see 120 bears and get through artistic time!! umm… I’d like to Roppongi!!

According to the NPR article of Food , there are still some first food chains that serve high calorie food though the physical documentary movie,SUPER SIZE ME , was released and surprising many people.
Americans are tend to improve their eating habits, super-size eating, these days, but the people who ordered the food at these food chains eat up!!
I read the sentence written about the notion to time in my school textbook. In it, they said Americans want to minimize the amount of time they spend preparing and eating meals while Europeans spend long time, conversing with friends. This cultural perception would afford Americans’ paradoxical belief.

I can’t understand why they like the first food very much even as they already know foods, like that, are not good for their health because the US announces many article about the food. They must know the latest information, and that attract them for Japanese food or some other dieting. The only possibility that I can think is that their DNA says they should do so!

English teacher told me that NPR is very good for improving listening ability. I had never heard the name like the name, but it seemed the name, like CNN or ABC.
Anyway, I heard the listening program today. umm… definitely ideal one. Though I don’t know how it is for TOEIC, it’ll become practices for TOEFL. Speed, length and difficulty of the contents are also suited. I think it may well become good for practicing for TOEIC, too!!

The Manga finally became a Hollywood movie!!

It’s not the latest news but I’d like to tell about the news.

Have you already read some Naoki Urasawa’s manga?? He is an author of YAWARA!, 20th century boys and PLUTO. I think there are no people who don’t know his Manga.
This time, one of his best sellers, Monster, has been generate publicity because the Manga finally became a movie not in Japan but Hollywood!! For the past few years, Hollywood is apt to buy the rights of remaking Japanese box office hits, like THE RING, THE GRUDGE (The JUON) or Shall we dance?? . It seems that shortage of the good factures made Hollywood people see Asian movies or Manga. The circumstances are seen in series of blockbuster hits, too.

Anyway, Monster is a psychological thriller telling the story of one doctor, Dr.Temmma who used to be an outstanding future surgery and one young brilliant killer whose life Temmma saved in young man’s early age. Urasawa’s Manga is very complex and we can’t imagine the next scene. Monster has cruelty, but at the same time, he shows us confidential relationship of people and sanctity of life.

I think film version of this is very difficult because there are no places to cut in the Original. So, please read Manga (vol.1~18) and of course try another his book, 20th century boys!!

Taxi3

Today, I saw a video, Taxi 3. I had never seen this series, but often heard that Taxi is super fascinating comedy touch movie, so I had been eager to see it.
Seeing this, I found it’s one of the most interesting comedy movies that I’ve ever seen.
I don’t know whether #1 or #2, but it seems that the director made it in consideration of 007, like car chase, sexy (?) girl, cross-border locales.
High point of the movie is opening. If you see it once, you’ll never forget it because 007’s movies have unique opening. So as soon as Taxi 3’s opening began, I found it!! It’s the best parody that I’ve ever seen.

In your school, Does your teacher use red color when (s) he check something like tests or another assignments??
According to the Ellen, there is the article that insists teacher shouldn’t use red because red represents not only love but also debilitating and causes stress.
Moreover, in the article (not written by Ellen) one teacher useing purple said “My generation was brought up on right or wrong with no in between, and red was always in your face. It’s uncomfortable to me. Purple is just a little bit more gentle. Part of my job is to be attuned to what kids respond to, and red is not one of those colors.” This remark is interesting, at least, for me, because Purple represents frustration in Japan (I don’t know how this color is thought in another countries). However, it said that the frustrated Purple pens’ sales are rising.

For me, the color doesn’t become any trouble because since I enter elementary school, teachers have used red pen. So I had never cared about the color. I think , unless the color is black, it’s all O.K. that whichever colors the teacher use. How about in your country?? And how do you think if the teachers use only red color in that case?

On April 15, I had a bad cough and was absent from school. I’m not a cauldrife person (it means someone who easily catch a cough) but this cold did’t come to cure at all since the beginning of March. However, sleeping all day on 15th and 16 the makes me 75% all right now! Sleeping is sovereign remedy against all disease:)
Anyway, I plan to make another web log, Japanese one. At the new blog, I’d like to write about International Tokyo film festival. In fact I’ll apply for the volunteer. Employed as a volunteer, I have to pass both documentary examination and employment interview. If I fail the exam, I won’t make the new one. According to the last year’s web site of the festival, application was starting from April 28, so this year is going to be the day (or 27 or 29) too! I’m so excited!!

Asyurajyou-no-Hitomi

Rie, Somegro Kanako

When I saw it first, it’s not a movie but stage version. My friend who really like to see plays lent its DVD (stage version) to me. The stage-version Asyurajyou got beyond my definition of plays. The fast-moving story, lots of actions and seasoned actions of seasoned actors are a new experience. Especially, casting was great. The leading actor is Somegoro Ichilawa, Kabuki actor, and Yuki Amami, Top-name star of Takarazuka Revue Company and Mari Natsuki played an important role. According to my friend, this stage was absorbed features of Kabuki, Japanese traditional performing art. So I could see Somegoro’s Kabuki in the stage.

At the new movie, Rie Miyazawa, representative actress of Japan, plays the role in Yuki stead. I think Yuki is more perfect for the job than Rie, but if I see the movie-version, I may feel she is good for the role.

Ashyura

This month, two big movies that I’m very looking forward to seeing will be on screen!!
I’m so excited but I wouldn’t be able to see both of them because I’m 3rd grade of high school student and prices are high for me. I don’t want to lose 3000 yen at a month.
The remarkable movies are Ashyurajyou-no-Hiyomi (Somegorou Ichikawa, Rie Miyazawa) and CONSTANTINE (Keanu Reeves). Both are released at April 16th. Ashyurajyou-no-Hitomi is Japanese movie and latter is American movie.
I’d like to talk about each of the movies next time.

Today, I’ll introduce very pretty candle. While I was using mobile phone of au (one of the Japanese mobile phone company) I got an au booklet about the company’s new item. At that time, cover-page photo was super cute!! It was the very candle’s photo. I’ve never seen such a small elaborate candle.
I’m not interesting both candles and other small objects, but I was addicted to them.
So I sometimes go the sites (http://www.swati.jp/) and watch them.
According to the site, all of the candles are handmade! That is great, isn’t it?? The shop name is SWATi and MAYUMI NAKADA makes candles. (I think, she must be a pretty woman because she makes pretty candles) The site says that Swati means, “star” in Hindi.
I’d like to buy it, but…. they are expensive. So I’ll just watch the candles on the Internet and get satisfaction.

Yesterday, We did check-ups in my school. In the check-ups, I was taken a blood sample. However, after injection, fraction of my arm that was injected was bleed internally. Because when we did check-ups, nurse collect blood from arteria, whoever collected blood have to stanch (stop bleeding). Definitely I did and make as doctor told me, I rested few minutes. I think nurse was bad at do that.
So yesterday, my arm was hurt and I couldn’t type the words!! Now I’m O.K but my arms have got a bruise and it won’t be disappear soon.

At last, school began. Teacher is the one that I really want to learn English from. I’ve heard that she can speak 6 languages fluently. That’s amazing, isn’t it??
In my new class, 20 friends are already known each other, so it’ll be not difficult to remember my new friends’ name. But it’ll be impossible to remember autonym because I (and also you) usually call my friends’ with nickname.
I wish I could make wonderful school day!!

BTW, cheery blossoms started to bloom in Japan. Compared to annual years, efflorescence was late. I hadn’t thought so, but when I went to school yesterday and saw cheery blossoms aren’t in full blossom, I agreed, too. As my enrollment ceremony of high school, cheery trees had already strewn their blossoms. This year, I may see pretty cheery blossom! And if I have a chance, I’d like to go on a cherry-viewing picnic!

From tomorrow, the next year’s term starts but I’m trouble with my but habits. As I sometimes said on this blog, it’s difficult for me to get up. I usually set the alarm clock keeping the big sound on over an hour. But I rarely wake up. Only one way of my waking up is my mother’s anger voice. (haha)

In fact, this year will be my last days of living in JAPAN. This time next year, I will be in California. I feel a little bit lonely, but it’s O.K. because I made up my mind long time ago. If I can get a job in the US, I never live in JAPAN. So I want to treasure my last life in Japan and, of course, my final-year life as a high school student. I’d like to make great memory.

I don’t know that it’s good news for you, MacDonald’s Co., Ltd. decided to cut a price again aiming shortening of the time to give change. So the prices of single menu are all 100 yen and set menu are all 500 yen. Of course this new effect is mostly aimed to empress their prices are cheap and put the economy on track for recovery.

On the other hands, MOS BURGER is going to contrasting way, you know. Though MOS haven’t afforded its foods with cheap (100~200yen) price by nature, it has projected “TAKUMI” series. By now, 4 TAKUMI Burger are been selling and their prices are 610~1000!! Compared with other company’s Burgers, the prices of TAKUMI are about 3 times. But my friend who tried TAKUMI said, “it’s worth to pay the price because that TAKUMI Burger goes beyond any definition of Burgers!”
I heard that president of MOS said, “Good qualities can’t be sold at low price” In order to heavy prices, MOS’s business is good.

I think, after all, if the prices are high, delicious foods attract people’s mind!

TOEFL TEST

For the purpose of studying TOEFL test, listening part is confused me every time. Seeing my score’s detail, section 1,listening part, is extremely bad. Improve my listening score I listen English CD on the way school or house addition to usual listening class activity in cram school.
I think listening TOEFL test is very very academic with technical term and long. The test is for the people who want to study in America, so the purpose of the listening test is judgment that one can understand what professor says in the lecture. So, in long part of the section (Listening section has two type, long or short and conversations or lectures) there could be seen like big ban theory author's copyright.
About Legislate for the right for abortion’s lecture and the strategy of the food combining is the most difficult lectures that I’ve ever heard. The former is a little bit easier than latter because I could play of the imagination from the words like abortion and Supreme Court and also I had known that there are some regions that don’t allow abortion for religious reasons. In spite of these clues, I couldn’t understand only 40 % of the lecture. (These lectures are 3~4 minutes!! uhmmm…) The latter one is awful. I feel that it’s seems as if I heard some noise. The biggest problem is vocabularies, I think, because they’re many words that I had never heard. If you are not native or children returning from abroad and go to school, you’ve never heard in English like metabolism, pepsin fermentation. I think their words would be in the Japanese entrance exams, but I promise that there are no chances to listen those words as part of the test.
Listening and reading are quite different even if using same passage. Reading doesn’t move, so if I can’t understand, I only have to read once more, while listening doesn’t allow me to listen until I can understand.
But anyway I know what I should do, what I could do now is practice practice practice!!!

He is my favorite actor in Japan! He won the Japanese Academy award this year. I think he has a special kind of aura, so his life as an actor will get longer and longer! BTW, his movies will be on screen this autumn. I’m looking forward to see it. Yes, I go to cheater only to watch him (lol)

Oh I forget to say this. He went to American University to study filmmaking. But he mistook the registration and took acting course. He said later, “I hadn’t found that I had mistaken until three months past. I always thought something is wrong. ” Sometimes, the mistake could be great success like him. So think every thing positively. If he had such a mistake, what he does now??

I recommend my American co walker to put mask, but he said, “It looks like that I am a patient with an infectious disease”.
“I don’t wanna go to office with mask. If people have a cough or sneezing, they wouldn’t go to office in this country” Japanese man based in Germany said so. In other cities like London and Paris, there is little chance to see many people wear masks.
So, in the United States and Europe masked Japanese waking along the sidewalk become articles. American News paper said, “I thought surgical group heading for operation”. And Australian News paper said, “It seems as if they are going to get in the government's face” Both are exaggerated articles for us but its aspects are out of the usual for other countries.
According to a major sanitary goods company, HAKUJYUJI (since 1897), until Spanish influenza exercised an overwhelming influence, mask is not familiar to people. It was for factory man. At one time people put landscape type (cover only mouth) but in addition that, they put snooty type (cover mouth and nose completely) now.
These days, the American and European TV and newspaper come to report pollen-forecast and relief of symptoms of hay fever. Authorities recommend that mask keep you from hey fever, but it doesn’t still become common.

Today was raining and little bit cold day, but I went to YOKOHAMA. Because since I was 7years ago, I haven’t gone there, so I was interested to go.
First we go to the please where there are many old foreign houses and graveyard. In YOKOHAMA, there were used to live a lot of foreigners. Landform of YOKOHAMA has rapid sloping road, so walking wit road was a little bit scary.
Then we went to MOTOMACHI (it’s a please name in YOKOHAMA). There is Fashion Street and we found pretty towels salon. The shop name is KARAKARA. The shop has assorted towel clothes. The clothes are imported from France, Germany, Brazil and USA.
They are beautiful color and pattern that isn’t existent in Japan. Prices are also cheap. At there we bought two aprons and a bag.
Next we went to China Town to eat Chinese dishes. We enter JUKEI-HANTEN (重慶飯店), where they provide us Szechwan(四川料理). We ordered Sichuan hot noodles, shrimp fried rice and shrimp jiao-zi. All of them are very nice!!
The time came to be late so we went home.
I had a nice time there!!

I don’t know how other countries are, but in Japan there are some people who are suffering from hay fever. For not all people but a great number of people live in Japan, March end and April are infernal season because of cedar pollen allergy.
Dulling the world war Ⅱ, they cut trees in large quantities in order to make into them for military converted timber. After the war, Japanese government planted Japanese cedar and Japanese cypress in the devastated forests to reconversion the forests and cover timber demands concurrent the economic growth. The point is how fast they recover their own green land, so they selected to plan cedar and cypress and made artificial forest. Though they succeeded to undo their green forests, another problem have happened, beginning of nightmarish cedar pollen allergy.
Anyway, I have a cedar pollen allergy. So I’m arduous now. Moreover my sore sort hasn’t cure yet since the beginning of March. I can’t part with Kleenex any longer.

CHICAGO is one of the most favorite movies. I love musical like “Sound of music”. CHICAGO has sexy dance, black costume and after all very cool!

To Study America

As I told you, for Japanese high school student which University they enroll is very important mater.
Then, if you decided to go American University for some reasons, what happens for them? In Japan, graduations from unauthorized universities are not treated as college graduate. So, students who graduate from the kind of University come under the category head “high school graduate”. In the case of graduating from American University, It is treated as a “high school graduate” even if they graduate from UCLA or Harvard!! It’s very very unfair. I think it must be admitted as “college graduate”. I think some student in Japan must be studying littler than Japanese Students in American University.
In Japan, Entrance exams are difficult and Graduations are easy (Circumstances are 100% opposite in America), so they are many people who don’t study dulling 4 years in University. Even if top University students seem not to study (I know some University students are likely this type). Of course some students are hardly studying for national exam or taking calibration test. But, this is common type like…

　・First & Second -year student first three months, they go to University year. After that,
　　they are eager to only do their part-time jobs or spending group activity.
　　Or they　don’t attend the classes.
　・Third-year student they hardly go about getting a job.
　・Forth-year student they just hardly do graduation thesis
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　The end***

I think university student can have the most free and exciting period. In proof of this, teachers of juku where I used to go said, “Do whatever you really want to do in your university student’s life. That is the last chance to use your time freely”
Certainly, It seems that Japanese university students’ life would be full of their pleasure memory, and I’m envy their life style. I don’t think that Japanese style is bad and American style is pretty good because I can understand how hard Japanese high school 3rd grade students study for their exam. But I really want Japanese educational approval to admit their, Japanese foreign student (in the U.S. or U.K.), great effort. I just wanna say this.
Anyway I’m just the person. I’m going to America to study Film market. My relatives are opposite to my course because they are worried to go US and can’t guess how wonderful experiences I’m going to have. Of course, at my getting a job activity will become difficult in Japan. I wouldn’t strike out elite track like my high school friends. But there is no security to strike out the road if I study hard and go top university. What I believe is DO WHATEVER I WANT TO DO. So I follow my soul voice.

The Note Book***movie

I saw The Note Book at last!! I loved it so much. I’ve never thought that I loved it such a kind of movie. It isn’t a dime a dozen-love story. There are polished love and how they had loved each other. The movie was filled with beautiful landscape, good sense of fashion and, of course, beautiful love story.
In the story, the old man had told the old women to the story. The story is just about themselves love story, but she didn’t know that because she was a dementia (dementia is a mental illness that affects some old people and that causes them to become confused and to forget things). Nevertheless, he keeps reading it for her to remember him and the fact that they loved each other. Oh no…I nearly talk you all about the story. If you want to know, please watch it!
I’ll go to watch it again. It’s worth to see two or more times.
Anyway this movie’s original edition, The Note Book, arrived at last!! Now I read it (But 8 out of 100) and some of them are different in the movie’s one. But, I think the book would be as beautiful story as the movie!

Sleepy student in Japan

I found interesting article on the Asahi Shimbun (It’s a newspaper like New York Time). It said that …
The research shows that 73.3% of High school student in Japan doze or are asleep or blank while they are in class. Moreover, more than 50% of them sleep past midnight.
On the other hands, American high school students who often sleep in classes or are blank are 48.5% and, doing same question in China, there are 28.8%. Both in America and Chine, high school students sleep around 10p.m ~11p.m and this is the most common bedtime hour while only 10% of Japanese go to bed at that period of time.
By the research, they don’t keep awake for studying. According to another article (Ellen’s blog http://www.ellenseflblog.blogspot.com/) they are sending E-mail to their friends or spending their time in convenience stores.
I don’t entirely agree these opinions. I know that many of them keep awake for sending E-mail, or watching TV. But there is another type. Are there really nobody studying at night?? I think 50% of awaking student in Japan is studying past midnight. I think they eager to sleep much early time, but they can’t. Because of the system of Japanese University’s entrance examination, it would be more and more difficult.
As you know, Japanese University is very difficult to enroll while graduation at there is easy. Some student would think that they just go to the University where they are able to enter. But others wouldn’t think so. To enter top University like Tokyo University, Waseda or Keio means confirmative security to enter Fortune 500 companies. As proof of this aspect, if you go to human resources at Tokyo Marine and Fire Insurance Company, Limited in recruiting time, placard says
“Please hand in the application in the right box if you are Tokyo University’s, Waseda University’s or Keio University’s student or alumna (alumna means people who graduate the university)”. And the placard says, too “Please hand in the application in the left box if you are the other university student’s or alumna.”
Don’t you think that it’s injustice? So students who want to enter top company have to study hard. Therefore, Japanese high school students are so tired out their study and go to Juku (cram school). We have too many things to do in spit of being exhausted.

Today, I made special drink for excessive sensitivity to cold. I saw about it in Aluali daijitenn 2. I have a heavy cold constitution, so I decided to make it.
The recipe is simple and every one can make it easily.

・Black vinegar ……………………660cc (I don’t know how to say “kurozu” in English)
・ginger………………………………200cc
・honey………………………………adequate dose

① Grate up the all ginger.
② Put all Black vinegar and honey with grated up ginger into a bottle.
③ Store it a day in the frig.

That’s all you have to do. Is it really easy, isn’t it??
If you want to drink…

① Take two tablespoons of the special liquid into a cup.
② In the cup, put the hot water in it.
＊＊you have to thin down the liquid to five times.

Try it and your suffering from sensitivity to cold temperatures would be disappeared soon. I’ll promise!

Tanngo no Sekku

There is celebration for girls on March 3 while there is also celebration for boys’ happiness. It’s called “Tanngo no Sekku” or Kodomo no hi (children’s day). The day is May 5 and national holiday (March 3 isn’t national holiday). Families with boys put up koinobori, carp steamers, in their garden and display gogatsu ninngyo in a room of the house.

But these days, I think, this traditional habits become smaller and smaller. When I was a kid, koinobori could be seen in anywhere in May, but now, there are much less chance to see it. As for me, I’ve not displayed Hinaninngyo in spite of being girl in my family. In fact, I said to my mother “I don’t want to display it. Is it scare, isn’t it ”. If you have ever seen Japanese Doll, you would understand the feeling. Some Japanese think Japanese Dolls are scare in the dark. Also, My mother has thought displaying those Hinanningyo ornaments are so bother her.

Do you know Sakuramochi? I think non-Japanese people have never seen it.
It’s a Japanese confectionery (confectionery means something sweet like candy, cake or something.), and it’s a kind of Japanese traditional confectionery.
Look at the picture above. The Sakuramochi is sweet azuki been paste in a rice cake (glutinous rice jelly) wrapped the body with cherry leaf. The leaf can also be eaten.

We eat it in March 3rd, the day of Hinamaturi. Dolls wearing traditional Kimono are displayed to pray for the happiness of girls. These dolls are called Hinaningyo, and the custom is also known as momo no sekku.
I like it very much!! And also other Japanese,too. If you come to Japane, try it. I think it is sold in Japanese-style confection store in any time.

The bag I show you before has arrived. It is thinner than I had thought but, I think, it was a good selection to buy a Large size. The shopping bag seems useful, because of its thinness, so I’ll be able to bring it easily in my main bag.
Moreover, TOEFL score had arrived!! I was so looking forward to see this.

Hey listen, I should receive My TOEFL score now but it hasn’t arrived yet! The day I took the Test was January 9, 2005, and usually it must be arrived after 5 weeks pasts. But today is March 1, 2005, so 7 weeks and tow days have been past since I had a test. It’s too late!! I know why such a things happen. It’s because this season is near application for deadline of some American Universitys’ entrance and TOEFL office is crowded with answer sheet of those who want to enter the American University all over the world.

These days I’m very happy because of my site’s global map. By the map, I can know where the visitors of my blog are live or born in.
In fact, I made a friend through this blogger’s network. Her (maybe I think “her” not his) name is Eäradë. Why we’ve known each other is that when I visit her site by chance (I clicking “NEXT BLOG” button upper right on our blog, I happened to visit her site) I was so amazed. Because there are so many articles about Japanese ANIME!! She is very familiar with J-comics and she read many MANGAs.
From her E-mail address, I had thought that she is a Spanish and lives in Spain. But it’s wrong. I lately knew she lives in Canary Islands. Canary Islands are Spain area, so she speaks Spain. Do you guess how far Japan and Canary Island is?? Canary Islands are very close to Africa and in Atlantic Ocean!!

Yesterday was happy because I bought a lovely shopping bag!! The name is The New Shoppingbag designed by Susan Bijl who lives in Amsterdam. I found it in Chihiro Ishino’s website (http://www.geocities.jp/ciiciic/). I once introduced its site, but did you remember??
Anyway, it’s made out of coated nylon, as used in kites. What is the bag’s specialty is we can select the 10 body colors and some line colors. And we can chose from 41 combinations!!

Lost in translation

Today I saw a movie, Lost In Translation. The story is about two Americans, Bob Harris (Bill Murray) and Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson), in Tokyo. Bob is a movie star and he came to Japan to shoot a commercial. Charlotte is young wife and she follows her husband, doing photographer. Both of them can’ t sleep in such an unaccustomed place like Tokyo. One day, Bob have a chance encounter with Charlotte and they become a very good friends.

Subsequence is secret! If you want to know, Watch it!! Anyway I think this movie is the very daily life though their encounter is not unusual thing. They just saw Japanese things, feel loneliness in other country and are frustrating not to make themselves understood in Japanese. In this movie, there is no specific story. But I think, in these days’ movie world, this kind of the story is rare while there are many highflying stories. Of course I love both type, but I think, there should be more realistic life like this movie.

In addition, I’d like to introduce about Sofia Coppola. As you know, Sofia Coppola grew up in the advantaged environment. Her father is a movie director, Francis Ford Coppola, The Godfather (1972), The Godfather 2 (1974) and he won the Academy Award, The Godfather 3 (1990). First, she was interested in photograph and studied about it (she set out ads of the “Parco”), and she became a fashion model, too! (And she made the cover of the “VOUGE”) Then she started to study about fashion and founded “MILK FED” and produced “x-girl”. Of course she became an actress, too!! When she was baby, she was in the father’s movie, The Godfather. And in The Godfather 3, She bowed as an Al Pacino’s daughter. She has much ability. I hadn’t known her well, but knowing them, now , I really respect her.

Did you make some chocolates or any other snacks?? I planed to make chocolate but I failed, so I couldn’t gave them to my friends who gave me snacks last Valentine Day and in my class It was not so big mistake but they had but appearance.
Anyway I found very cute chocolate. It had introduced this year (and I knew it on TV) so you would have known it. The name of the company is RICHART and they provide interesting chocolates. Look at the photo that I posted above. On the chocolates, there are funny drawings that are excellent handiwork in the design contest held by RICHART every year for under twelve-year old children. I hear this chocolate is sold at Ropponngi Hills, so if you have a time to go there, check it!

Does anyone read it, The Notebook, yet?? This is one of the bestseller books in the US. And this novel’ is made into movie, Kimini yomu monogatari (君に読む物語), in Japan, too. I heard that this movie is pathetic story. But in fact, I don’t like this kind of movies so much because I want movie to be more excited or nervous one, like action, SF or Fantasy movie. And I think, to see the movie like, TV screen is enough size, and I don’t want pay 1500 yen. But anyway, I don’t want you to jump to conclusion. I like moving movies.
Why I tell about this story without watching this movie is that I heard this is the best book for foreign book’s beginners. It isn’t so much thick, large alphabet and easy to read!
So I’ll decide to read from tomorrow!
